What is time-lapse recording?

Time-lapse recording is a technique whereby the capture frequency is much lower than the view sequence. When played at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing. Processes that would normally appear subtle become very pronounced.

Many hours are compressed down to a few seconds. Objects and events that would normally take minutes, days, hours, or months to unfold,  can be viewed to in seconds. The motion of the sun and stars in the sky, become very noticeable.

Time-lapse photography can be considered the opposite of high speed photography or slow motion.
